For the past six years, we have conducted Culinary Techniques Workshops for some of Denver’s finest schools.
We start with an introductory meeting, then put together a format that focuses on the students ages and skill levels. From there, we do programs from one to six days, educating the students in a wide variety of culinary skills and styles. In our young peoples’s programs, we start by teaching simple recipes and cooking skills, to help them begin to appreciate the joy of feeding themselves, their friends and family.
For pre-teens, menus include spaghetti and meatballs, quesadillas, macaroni and cheese and, of course, cookies and brownies.
Middle and high school students are ready to take on true kitchen skills. In their workshops, they will learn the fundamentals of sauteing, roasting, knife skills, blanching, poaching, baking etc. and gain the expertise to approach almost any recipe with confidence.
Additional workshops focus on regional and ethnic cuisines, such as Italian, French, Pacific Rim, Mexican and Mediterranean styles. No matter the age or level of interest, The Gourmet Spoon will enlighten and delight your class.
